What TVLens collects, why, and who else sees it.
Last updated October 22, 2026.
Patricio Quezada builds and runs TVLens. It is an invite-only beta. You can browse it without an account. You need an account and an invite code to rate shows.
What TVLens stores
- Your account: your username, your email address, and your password. TVLens stores the password as a one-way hash, so no one can read it, including me.
- Your invite code: which code you used, so each code works once.
- What you add: your ratings, your tags, and the shows you request.
How TVLens uses it
- Your ratings and tags shape your own recommendations.
- Your email address receives password reset emails, and nothing else. TVLens sends no newsletters and no marketing.
- Other readers never see your username next to a rating or a tag. They see only averages across all readers and the tag words people use, with no names attached.
TVLens does not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or show ads.
Cookies
TVLens sets up to three cookies. One keeps you signed in. One protects forms from forgery. One carries a short notice to the next page, such as the note that you rated a show. TVLens uses no analytics and no tracking cookies.
Other services
- Fly.io hosts the app and its database in the United States (northern Virginia). Its server logs record each request, including the page and the browser, and may include your IP address.
- Fly.io volume snapshots keep a copy of the database for five days.
- Cloudflare runs the tvlens.org domain and passes your requests to Fly.io, so it sees your IP address.
- iCloud Mail sends password reset emails from [email protected].
- TMDB serves the posters and images. Your browser loads them from TMDB directly, so TMDB sees your IP address.
- YouTube plays trailers through its privacy-enhanced mode. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play.
Deleting your account
Email [email protected] from the address on your account. I will delete your account and everything tied to it: your ratings, tags, and requests. Copies leave the database snapshots within five days.
Children
TVLens is not for children under 13.
